Thank you for being a supporter of our UPMC Horizon and Jameson Foundations and for playing a role in helping improve community health. You’re likely familiar with the work that we do, investing in local hospitals, patients and health care for the people who call this region their home. For example, you may have borrowed medical equipment from MERP, which in the past year has loaned out 4,570 pieces of cost-free, refurbished medical devices to more than 3,000 community members. You may know one of the 26 students at the Jameson School of Nursing who has received a scholarship through our Foundations since May. Perhaps you’ve heard about the Lucas chest compression system that we’ve purchased for our UPMC Horizon-Shenango Valley emergency department, which will provide automated compressions on patients undergoing cardiac distress while freeing our staff to focus on providing care.

All of these success stories have been due to the generosity of you and others like you who have faithfully supported our efforts to invest in community health, empower the next generation of health care professionals, and support our local UPMC hospitals. We could not do this work without you. Thank you to our donors, our volunteers, and those who have shared our good news – these successes are yours as much as they are ours.

Tuesday, November 29th, is Giving Tuesday. I want to humbly ask you to consider making a gift to support the health of those in need in Mercer and Lawrence Counties. Your gift will be invested in our local communities, and there are a variety of programs you can support. A donation to our General Fund supports the greatest needs that our team has identified and includes funding for community initiatives and organizations as well as UPMC facilities and patients. Support for our other programs, including MERP, our Children’s Fund, Cancer Care funds, Patient Transportation and Scholarships go towards deserving individuals and initiatives which seek to improve community wellness and education in our region.
