Promoting Cooperation and Improving Access to Services

KIDSAt the UPMC Horizon Community Health Foundation, we are committed to improving the health and well-being of our community by funding both community programs and our own projects. We provide grants to our community partners who share in our mission to promote health and wellness throughout our region.

Identifying and Addressing Unmet Needs

FARRELL AED TRUCK FULL SHOTThe Foundation board continues to find ways to address health related problems in the community. From providing AEDs to police and fire departments to loaning free medical equipment to people who can’t afford it, we are constantly working in our community to provide support where it is needed most.

Promoting Improved Health and Wellness

DOCTOR WITH FOLKSIn 2001 the foundation established an endowed fund to honor the memory of C. Howard Miller, DO, a respected member of the medical community in the UPMC Horizon area.  Each year, investment earnings from the fund are used to sponsor a health education event through the Dr. C. Howard Miller Health Education Lecture Series.

The Foundation Board
Gatekeepers of the mission and donor investment

The UPMC Horizon Community Health Foundation board carefully investigates community issues, seeks appropriate partners and oversees how grant dollars are spent. Board members take seriously their responsibility to make the most of all gifts received. Members of the board represent a cross-section of the communities UPMC Horizon serves.

The work is far from over. The fact is, in many ways, the board believes it has just begun. Board members and foundation supporters believe everyone should have the opportunity to benefit from a healthy and vibrant community.
